As often happens the larger more prosperous cities in Texas get all the attention when smaller towns like Glenn Heights gets overlooked. Glenn Heights (GH) has a population of a little over 11,200 people. The city is a whopping 7.2 square miles.
As of 2010 Glenn Heights had a population of 11,278. The median age was 29.4. The racial and ethnic composition of the population was 25.2% non-Hispanic white, 49.6% non-Hispanic black, 0.6% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 0.1% non-Hispanic reporting some other race, 2.7% from two or more races and 22.2% Hispanic or Latino.
Just running through some early numbers 10% of the homes in GH has been severely damaged or destroyed. Shields elementary severely damaged.
If there ever was a city that needed our help this is it.
Early next week we are going to be invited for a tour of the destruction in Glenn Heights. We can ask questions and see where and what the most need is. I invite those interest in helping create a Ride for Glenn Heights to contact me Butch Moss at. gunbarreltx@gmail.com...
